Ernest Nuamah's return to Lyon's squad lifts Ghana's hopes of having a key attacker for the crucial AFCON qualifiers against Somalia.
Ghana can breathe a little easier. Ernest Nuamah has shaken off his muscle problem and been named in Olympique Lyon's squad for Sunday's Ligue 1 clash with Stade Brestois, a timely lift for the Black Stars ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Somalia.
The young winger missed Lyon's Europa League meeting with Real Sociedad on Thursday, and the setback had fans worried that he might also be unavailable for the international break. His inclusion in the matchday group suggests he is on track, and a call-up for the double-header now looks far more likely.
If Nuamah gets through the Brestois game without a fresh knock, he could be one of the most important attackers in Ghana's plans. The former FC Nordsjælland man has been sharp this season, with six goals and one assist in 13 appearances in all competitions, which is the kind of end product the Black Stars will want against Somalia.
Ghana host Somalia at the Essipong Stadium on November 12 before travelling for the return leg on November 16. Dropping points across the two games would put their hopes of making it to the finals under real pressure, so having a fit and in-form Nuamah in the squad could make a big difference.
