Scotland fight back twice to oust Czechs and book Sweden showdown

Scotland twice came from behind in Paisley to beat the Czech Republic 3-2 and set up a Women's World Cup play-off final against Sweden.

Scotland showed real resilience in Paisley, twice recovering from a goal down to beat the Czech Republic 3-2 and win their play-off semi-final tie 5-2 on aggregate. The result sends them into a Women's World Cup play-off final against Sweden.

The Czechs did not make it easy. They hit back to take the lead on two separate occasions, and each time Scotland had to find an answer. Having carried a 2-0 advantage into the second leg, the hosts saw that cushion tested, but they never let the tie slip away.

It was the kind of nerve that knockout football demands. Falling behind in front of a home crowd could have rattled a side protecting a lead, yet Scotland kept pushing and got the goals they needed to finish the job.

Now comes the big one. Sweden are the next obstacle, with a place at the Women's World Cup on the line. Scotland will go into that final knowing they can score under pressure and recover from setbacks, and they will need both against a strong opponent.
