Ghana's James Ampofo rose highest in the 25th minute to power Esbjerg fB to a hard-fought 1-0 win at Hobro in the Danish First Division.
Ghanaian forward James Ampofo is making his mark in Denmark again. He struck the only goal of the game as Esbjerg fB edged Hobro 1-0 on the road in the Danish First Division at DS Arena.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute. Ampofo climbed above the defence inside the box and headed home a delivery from Adam Ahmad, giving the visitors a lead they would never surrender.
Esbjerg went into the break ahead and stayed disciplined after the restart. Hobro pushed hard in the second half and carved out chances to level, but the Esbjerg backline held firm. Ampofo picked up a booking in the 83rd minute as the visitors saw the game out and took all three points.
The win lifts Esbjerg to 10th in the table with 14 points from 14 matches. For Ampofo, it is another big contribution in a productive campaign: five goals and one assist in nine appearances this season.
Esbjerg now turn to their next test, a home date with AB on November 21, where they will look to build on this gritty result.
