Ghana's Michael Baidoo bagged his first Plymouth goal off the bench as Argyle swept past Alvechurch 4-0 into the FA Cup second round.
Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo made his comeback count, netting his first goal for Plymouth Argyle as the Pilgrims eased to a 4-0 win over Alvechurch in the Emirates FA Cup first round. Back from injury, Baidoo needed barely 15 minutes on the pitch to make his mark.
It was far from straightforward early on. Argyle controlled the ball for long spells in the first half but could not crack a stubborn Alvechurch side, and the teams went in level at the break without a goal.
The deadlock broke five minutes after the restart. Will Evans pounced on a defensive error and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner. He added a second in the 69th minute, when a Ronan Curtis cross took a heavy deflection and looped into the net.
Baidoo, introduced in the 61st minute, struck in the 78th. He met a low delivery from Jared Rendle and powered it home for his first strike in Plymouth colours. Two minutes later Curtis capped the rout, lifting the ball over the keeper after a clever pass from Harvey White.
Plymouth march into the second round, and for Baidoo, the afternoon was a perfect reminder of what he can bring after his spell on the sidelines.
